Blog post 1: To tweet or not to tweet? That is the question!

The impact of technology on teachers and students both have positive effects and are also surrounded by ethical issues. Such as the utilisation of Twitter. Twitter is social platform with over 336 million users, that range from all interests and functionalities, according to the (The Guardian) Twitter allows teachers to professionally expand their PLN (personal learning network). Therefore, in the purpose for educational use, Twitter is highly recommended for teachers. As shown in (10 reasons to tweet) a compelling list of why teachers should join Twitter and also shows the positive ramifications it leads to. As explained Twitter has no social class boundaries allowing teachers to connect across the globe sharing new ideas and receive constructive learning feedback therefore Twitter is seen as a global classroom. Enabling mentors across the globe, improving teaching style and positively affecting students learning. Twitter allows educators to discuss educational debates exponentially enabling new ideas, involvement and participation of more educators. As a personal user of Twitter, I have benefited from the gifts of Twitter and will progressively utilise the resources to expand my PLN. The utilisation of Twitter allows a more direct connection between fellow students and teachers, as a digital native. I rely heavily on technology to ask, reflect and communicate to world-wide users and even to my own class mates. Although Twitter brings many positive attributes to education and PLN, it is to be used in an appropriate and professional setting. Otherwise the inappropriate use of twitter can lead to issues of cyber bulling, inappropriate content being displayed and become a very negative social network. However, in personal experiences and exploring world wide educational users, twitter has shown to be a very useful tool in education thus is an excellent ramification from modern technology. So YES of course to tweet, is this even a question.
